OVERVIEW

About this course.

What this course covers. This course builds awareness of hazardous manual tasks and the musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) they can cause. It explains that "manual handling" is far broader than lifting heavy objects; sets out the recognised risk factors of force, awkward and sustained posture, repetition and duration, and exposure to vibration; describes the legal duties that apply to a person conducting a business or undertaking (PCBU) and to workers; and shows how to identify, assess and control the risks. Throughout, it uses construction-site examples and points you to primary Australian sources so you can go deeper.

Who it is for. The course is written for Australian building and construction practitioners, including builders, site supervisors, project managers, tradespeople, apprentices, labourers and building surveyors, who need practical awareness of manual task risk and who record CPD against their own professional obligations. It assumes no prior formal WHS training.
